Abstract: Flexible electronics is a progressive technology with the potential to radically change the electronics world and open new perspectives for wearability, portability, and cost of electronic devices. Applications include biological sensors, touch screens, electronic paper, photovoltaic cells, and radio frequency tags, just to name a few. Within the healthcare industry, flexible biological detection systems are being explored to continuously monitor physiological conditions and biomarkers that assess overall fitness, presence of disease, and/or response to treatments with the overall goal of making life easier, safer, and more enjoyable. During this talk, Dr. Chen will review the current progress in flexible electronics, with a focus on graphene field effect transistor fabricated on a ?exible Kapton substrate using 3-D inkjet printing for use as a biosensor to detect infectious organisms.
Dr. Chen got Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Texas at Austin in 2002. Her research work in the past twenty years has been focused on flexible electronics/photonics based on graphene and carbon nanotube. Dr. Chen has over 95 publications in refereed journals and conferences. She is a senior member of IEEE, OSA and SPIE. She is an associate editor of Optical Engineering. She also served as the Conference Committee Member of "Optical Interconnects” conference at Photonics West 2019, 2020, 2021.
